| The Christmas story is often
associated with the birth of a baby; and while that is true,
it is not really about a baby born in a manger. The essence
of the Christmas story is to assure us that God is with us
– ‘Immanuel’.
The Christmas story is an account of how the God of the entire
universe laid aside His majesty and put on the cloak of humanity.
What happened in the manger in Bethlehem over two thousand
years ago was that the God of infinity and eternity became
a baby – that is the wonder of Christmas. The bible
puts it this way “And the Word became flesh and dwelt
among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth”.
