| Paul planted the Corinthian church
on his second missionary journey; and his letters to them
reveal a church beset with serious problems. In fact, no epistle
in the New Testament gives a clearer insight into the life
of the first century church than 1 Corinthians.
Although Paul wrote four letters to the Corinthian church,
only two of them made it into the bible. They are heavily
practical, dealing with a series of specific moral and conduct
problems in the church.
Romans – Paul’s longest epistle – is written
to a church that he neither planted nor ever visited. And
it is considered to be a cornerstone book in the bible; the
most comprehensive book in the New Testament. A doctrinal
dissertation on righteousness yet a practical and down to
earth book.
